Job Title: Education Assistant Level 1

We are seeking a qualified Education Assistant Level 1 to join our team at School District #22 (Vernon). The successful candidate will work under the supervision of a teacher/administrator to provide support to students in a variety of settings.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Tutor students and modify teaching materials to meet individual needs
  • Compile and update student records, and monitor student behavior
  • Supervise students during noon hour and bus supervision as required
Requirements:
  • 6 months of relevant training, including an Okanagan College Education Assistant certificate or equivalent
  • Familiarity with current special education technology
  • Proven ability to learn new technology and possess literacy, numeracy, and English skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills, initiative, flexibility, and good communication skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and work in a team setting
  • Bilingual - fluency in French and English is required
Working Conditions:

The successful candidate will work in a variety of settings, including classrooms and school offices. Services will not be required on In-Service and Non-Instructional Days.

Wage and Benefits:

The hourly wage for this position is $28.15. The successful candidate will also be eligible for benefits.
