About the Role

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Unit Clerk to join our team at BC Cancer. As a key member of our oncology clinic, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our department.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate patient appointments, diagnostic tests, and procedures, ensuring timely and efficient communication with clinicians and patients.
  • Process clinician orders, prepare requisitions, and maintain accurate records in our electronic health record system.
  • Provide exceptional patient care, responding to inquiries, and addressing concerns in a professional and empathetic manner.
  • Collaborate with the healthcare team to maintain a safe and respectful environment for patients, families, and staff.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, contributing to the development of policies and procedures that enhance patient care and safety.
Requirements
  • Grade 12, medical terminology, and graduation from a recognized Nursing Unit Clerk Program, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
  • Physical ability to perform the duties of the position, including standing, walking, and lifting.
  • Proficiency in computer software applications, including electronic health records and Microsoft Office.
