Job Responsibilities:
  • Oversee the unconventional resource portfolio, conducting technical evaluations, risk assessments, and strategic planning to facilitate the transition from exploration to development.
  • Perform geological assessments of resource plays to ensure optimal productivity and identify knowledge gaps.
  • Conduct resource evaluations to affirm value and assist in reserve estimation processes.
  • Collaborate with reservoir engineering teams to support commercial viability assessments.
  • Engage in strategic planning and monitoring to ensure effective de-risking of resource plays.
  • Work closely with exploration and characterization divisions to aid in well planning and execution.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements based on current practices.
  • Communicate findings and recommendations effectively through presentations and reports to both technical peers and management.
  • Mentor junior staff and facilitate knowledge sharing within the team.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Geology, Geophysics, or a related field; advanced degrees are preferred.
  • A minimum of 15 years of experience, including 5-10 years focused on unconventional plays such as shale or tight gas.
  • Proven expertise in evaluating tight sand and shale plays, with a solid understanding of risk and resource assessment methodologies.
  • Experience managing and de-risking portfolios of unconventional opportunities, with insights into geological and engineering factors influencing success.
  • Familiarity with sedimentology, depositional environments, petrophysics, geomechanics, and basic reservoir engineering is advantageous.
  • Prior collaboration with reservoir engineers and reserve auditors is preferred.
  • Experience in production and drilling operations, focusing on well performance and optimization.
  • Knowledge of the economic aspects of unconventional field development plans is beneficial.
