Key Responsibilities

Reporting to the Capital Projects Department, your contributions will include:

  • Designing mechanical systems or assemblies in an industrial setting, utilizing concepts, sketches, or estimates (2D and 3D);
  • Conducting site visits to factories or suppliers to identify issues and implement effective solutions;
  • Developing technical strategies to address production challenges;
  • Engaging in continuous improvement initiatives to boost plant productivity and performance;
  • Incorporating safety, health, and environmental considerations throughout the design process;
  • Establishing tolerances for components and assemblies during the design phase;
  • Drafting and reviewing equipment specifications and overseeing selection processes;
  • Actively participating in procurement activities, including tender calls, bid evaluations, and technical follow-ups;
  • Collaborating closely with suppliers to gather information or resolve technical design issues;
  • Assisting in prototype evaluations;
  • Estimating and planning engineering solutions;
  • Contributing to the preparation of plans and specifications;
  • Monitoring project progress, including cost management and schedule tracking;
  • Supporting on-site construction efforts and participating in system commissioning;
  • Documenting and reporting on various project activities;
  • Coordinating with consulting engineering teams;
  • Performing preliminary design calculations (mechanical, piping).

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree or diploma in mechanical engineering;
  • A minimum of 10 years of engineering experience;
  • Relevant industrial experience, particularly in chemical processes, is a significant advantage;
  • Expertise in bulk handling, hydraulics, pneumatics, conveyors, and pumping/piping systems;
  • Bilingual proficiency in French and English, both written and spoken;
  • Strong communication and technical writing abilities;
  • Proven leadership skills and a collaborative team player;
  • Detail-oriented, with sound judgment and a focus on results;
  • Exceptional problem-solving capabilities;
  • Highly adaptable to changing environments.
