About the Role

The Government of Saskatchewan is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Child Protection Worker to join our team in Prince Albert. As a key member of our social services team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safety and well-being of children and families in our community.

Key Responsibilities

  • Investigate allegations of neglect, physical or sexual abuse, and assess family functioning to determine risk factors to children's safety.
  • Implement intervention plans and provide support services to families as required.
  • Initiate Family Court proceedings and work with families through this process.
  • Manage the needs of children in care, including placement in foster and alternate resources, assessment and treatment planning.
  • Develop and maintain open and honest work relationships with clients, foster families, biological families, and other stakeholders.
  • Screen, identify, and prioritize referrals for service, develop intervention plans, and consult with other professionals as necessary.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Social Work or Bachelor of Indigenous Social Work degree from an accredited university.
  • Ability to travel, work flexible hours, and transport children and parents in service delivery.
  • Knowledge of multicultural beliefs and values, with a particular emphasis on First Nations and Métis.
  • Knowledge of poverty, systemic, and socio-economic issues and their impact on people.
  • Ability to advocate on behalf of clients to ensure access to services and resources.
