Job Overview

A comprehensive understanding of the BC Contaminated Sites Regulation (BC CSR) and relevant ministry protocols is essential.

The Lead Specialist will be tasked with delivering expertise in environmental science, engineering, and regulatory frameworks to evaluate and resolve environmental challenges for our clients. In a dynamic and competitive landscape, this position will emphasize relationship building, conducting risk evaluations, ensuring adherence to regulations, and collaborating with team members to uphold exceptional service standards. The proactive identification of process enhancements and trends, particularly concerning health and safety, is crucial. The Lead Specialist will consistently embody FLINT's core values and ethical principles.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver technical guidance on intricate sites and support Project Managers.
  • Examine and validate reports for precision and regulatory compliance.
  • Provide mentorship and direction to junior staff, including technical advisors and environmental professionals.
  • Utilize expert knowledge of environmental science, engineering concepts, and regulatory mandates to evaluate environmental challenges and formulate solutions.
  • Serve as a trusted consultant to clients, comprehending their requirements, offering strategic insights, and nurturing long-term partnerships.
  • Conduct comprehensive environmental risk evaluations, including site assessments and data interpretation, to pinpoint hazards and mitigation strategies.
  • Remain informed about environmental regulations, guide clients on compliance matters, and assist in the permitting process.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to devise integrated solutions for complex environmental issues.
  • Identify avenues for process optimization and innovation to improve environmental consulting services.
  • Complete administrative responsibilities within designated timelines.
  • Engage in additional projects and assignments as required.

Qualifications:

  • University Degree in environmental science, engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Professional designation required or eligibility to obtain one.
  • At least 20 years of experience in environmental consulting, with a focus on assessments, remediation, and compliance.
  • Demonstrated success in managing complex environmental projects.
  • Thorough knowledge of environmental regulations pertinent to the area of expertise.
  • Familiarity with guidelines and procedures in Alberta, BC, and Saskatchewan is preferred.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven leadership abilities, including mentoring junior staff.
