About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Environmental Health Officer to join our team at Fraser Health Authority. As an Environmental Health Officer, you will play a critical role in promoting and maintaining a high standard of public health and environmental conditions in our community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Investigations and Inspections: Conduct thorough investigations and inspections of public facilities, including food processing and handling establishments, businesses, and residential care facilities, to ensure compliance with regulations and standards.
  • Enforcement and Education: Enforce applicable regulations and by-laws, and provide education and guidance to the public and private sector on environmental health matters.
  • Research and Analysis: Conduct research and analysis on public health and environmental protection matters, and make recommendations for improved standards and controls.
  • Community Engagement: Facilitate community engagement and capacity building to promote positive change in the environment and population health.
  • Reporting and Documentation: Prepare and submit reports on investigational and inspectional work performed, and maintain accurate records and documentation.
Requirements
  • Education and Training: Bachelor of Technology in Environmental Health degree, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Certifications and Licenses: Certificate in Public Health Inspection (Canada) granted by the Canadian Institute of Public Health Inspectors (CIPHI), and eligible for registration with the BC Branch of the Canadian Institute of Public Health Inspectors.
  • Skills and Abilities: Ability to analyze and interpret test and inspection results, communicate effectively, establish effective working relationships, and work independently under limited supervision.
