Job Summary

The Electrical Systems Specialist is responsible for the maintenance and repair of electrical systems and equipment at Septodont facilities. This includes troubleshooting, adjusting, and repairing electrical production and manufacturing equipment, as well as building automation systems.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and repair electrical issues in production and manufacturing equipment, including PLCs, servo drives, and motion controllers.
  • Maintain and repair electrical building equipment and systems, including generators, transformers, switchgear, and VFDs.
  • Use test instruments to diagnose problems and determine electrical load and power quality.
  • Update electrical drawings for facility and production equipment.
  • Coordinate electrical equipment changes and modifications as recommended by safety authorities or inspectors.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on electrical systems and equipment.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to provide electrical expertise and ensure safe and efficient operation of facilities and equipment.
  • Arrange for contracted services as needed and supervise electrical work.
  • Recognize and address potential problems to minimize impact on production schedules.
  • Ensure all electrical work is completed according to codes and standards.
  • Develop and maintain electrical Standard Operating Procedures to ensure compliance with cGMP guidelines and company goals.
  • Support the maintenance department in preventive maintenance and emergency maintenance of plant and production equipment.
  • Support the validation department in validation projects.
  • Support the Engineering department in electrical work for new equipment installation and commissioning.
  • Adhere to safety guidelines and regulations.
  • Follow GMP and regulatory requirements to ensure quality standards are met.

Qualifications

BASIC REQUIREMENTS:

Education

  • Post-secondary education in a relevant discipline from a recognized academic institution is required. Must have an Ontario Industrial Electrician and/or Construction and Maintenance Electrical License.

Experience

  • Expert knowledge in maintaining electrical systems within a manufacturing environment, including building and production systems.
  • Advanced knowledge in Allen Bradley, Siemens PLCs, servo/motion controllers, VFDs - considered an asset.
  • Understanding of electrical utility systems for facilities as well as production equipment, including instrumentation and field control devices.
  • Proven ability to read and interpret electrical and control drawings/schematics.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to work with cross-functional teams.
  • Knowledge of GMP and other related regulations.
  • Safety-focused with knowledge of safety regulations.
  • Ability to work under pressure under tight timeframes.
  • Effective organizational, time management, and detail-orientation skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work in a team environment.
  • Proven analytical, trouble-shooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Flexible when it comes to shift work.
