Indigenous Community Claims Support Specialist

The Indigenous Community Claims Support Specialist will collaborate closely with Indigenous communities throughout Canada. This role involves working alongside First Nations Child and Family Services and addressing matters related to Jordan's Principle class action.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide compassionate assistance to individuals during the claims submission process.
- Build and nurture relationships with claimants.
- Guide claimants in completing necessary documentation and connect them with available support services.
- Help claimants monitor their claim status and navigate the appeals process.
- Educate individuals about the claims process and expected settlement timelines.
- Participate in training sessions to enhance claims support effectiveness.
- Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability in response to evolving needs.
Required Qualifications:
- A minimum of three years of relevant experience.
- Ability to establish trust and effective communication with individuals experiencing (intergenerational) trauma.
- Proficient in utilizing technology and online platforms.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Willingness to travel across Canada.
- Capability to provide virtual support to claimants via phone, internet, or in-person.
Additional Advantages:
- Familiarity with Indigenous regional governance frameworks.
- Understanding of Indigenous culture, history, and the impacts of trauma.
- Knowledge of colonial policies and their implications for Indigenous communities.
- Fluency in an Indigenous language is a valuable asset.
