Position Overview:

We are expanding our Tunnel and Water Groups and are seeking a Tunnel/Trenchless Engineer with expertise in the water sector. This role is essential for a diverse range of tunnel engineering initiatives. Our Tunnel Group is a vibrant team engaged in tunneling projects for major subway transit lines, municipal projects, and international ventures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support project activities within GHD's Water division and assist with tunneling projects across various regions.
  • Contribute to technical and administrative tasks related to tunnel and underground structure development.
  • Conduct analyses for tunnel liners and shaft designs using software such as PLAXIS, FLAC, and Rocscience.
  • Prepare reports and documentation for tunnel components of proposals.
  • Participate in client meetings alongside senior team members.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in geotechnical, geological, or civil engineering; a Master's degree in Tunnel/Geotechnical Engineering is a plus.
  • Professional certification is preferred or in progress.
  • Demonstrated experience in tunnel engineering and water-related projects.
  • At least 5 years of experience in municipal tunnel/trenchless projects.
  • Ability to work effectively within tunnel design or construction teams.
  • Experience in designing mid-sized tunnels (2m +).
  • Proficiency in designing deep shafts and shoring structures.
  • Knowledge of soft ground tunneling and underground structure support.
  • Competence in analytical and numerical analysis methods, with familiarity in industry-standard geotechnical software.
  • Strong understanding of various tunneling/trenchless methods and construction logistics.
  • Experience in assessing tunnel-induced settlement and related infrastructure impacts.
  • Familiarity with settlement instrumentation and monitoring techniques.
  • Knowledge of soft ground tunneling ancillary methods, including ground treatment.
  • Experience in preparing geotechnical reports and specifications.
  • Familiarity with cost estimation and scheduling for tunnel construction.
  • Proven ability in drafting detailed design reports and construction documentation.
  • Excellent technical writing, presentation, and teamwork skills.
  • Valid driver's license.
