Job Title: Drug Treatment Court Counsellor

Location: Ottawa, Ontario, Canada

Reports To: Manager, Adult Services

Job Status: One (1) Full-Time Permanent Position

We are currently seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Counsellor to join our team at Rideauwood Addiction and Family Services. As a Counsellor in our Drug Treatment Court program, you will play a critical role in supporting individuals struggling with addiction and related issues.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide individual and group counselling services to clients, including psychoeducational groups and case management
  • Work effectively with clients who present with complex problems, including substance use, mental health issues, trauma, legal problems, and socio-economic determinants of health
  • Participate in community presentations and meetings, and contribute to administrative and teamwork functions
  • Collaborate with other professionals and students in training and mentoring
Requirements:
  • Minimum of a three-year degree in a health or social sciences related discipline from an accredited post-secondary institution
  • Mental health and addictions certification an asset
  • Experience in facilitation or co-facilitation of group programming for adults and/or parents required
  • Thorough knowledge of contemporary assessment and psychosocial counselling techniques
  • Comprehensive knowledge of individual, group, and crisis counselling methods, and case management
  • Familiarity with legislation applicable to performance of job responsibilities
  • Proficiency in computer skills, including Microsoft Office suite
  • Registration and/or certification with appropriate professional college or licensing body desired
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bilingualism in English and French
  • Ability and willingness to work regular office hours, with regular evening and occasional weekend hours
