The Roberts/Smart Centre is seeking a skilled and compassionate Youth Counsellor to join our team. As a key member of our mental health treatment programs, you will play a vital role in supporting the well-being and development of Ottawa-based youth and those throughout the province.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and Implement Treatment Plans: Collaborate with youth to create personalized treatment plans, focusing on skill-building and promoting healthy relationships.
- Establish Therapeutic Relationships: Foster positive, supportive relationships with youth, providing a safe and non-judgmental space for them to express themselves.
- Provide Guidance and Support: Offer guidance and support to youth in accessing community resources, developing problem-solving skills, and achieving living skills.
- Liaise with Families and Stakeholders: Communicate effectively with families, community partners, and stakeholders to ensure seamless support and coordination.
- Participate in Recreational Activities: Engage in recreational and leisure time programs, promoting fun and socialization among youth.
- Education and Experience: A CAAT diploma, University degree, or equivalent in a related field, with demonstrated experience working with youth with moderate to severe behavioural challenges.
- Training and Certifications: Completion of the Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) course, 1st Aid/CPR 'C' certification, and a valid driver's license.
- Personal Qualities: Ability to work effectively and independently, with minimal supervision, and a strong commitment to supporting the well-being of youth.
