Runnymede Healthcare Centre is seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Occupational Therapy/Physiotherapy Clinical Extern to join our team. As a Clinical Extern, you will have the opportunity to gain valuable experience in a clinical setting, working alongside our experienced healthcare professionals.
Key Responsibilities:- Assist with basic clinical tasks, such as equipment setup and patient transfers, under the supervision of a regulated healthcare professional.
- Support patients with activities of daily living, transfers, and ambulation, as recommended by the healthcare team.
- Document care provided, under the supervision of a regulated healthcare professional.
- Engage with patients to promote a friendly environment and encourage participation in therapy.
- Support group exercise programs, including equipment setup and demonstrations of exercises.
- Current Occupational Therapy or Physiotherapy student in a training program accredited by the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario (COTO) or Physiotherapy Education Accreditation Canada (PEAC).
- Ability to complete patient care tasks as directed.
- Excellent problem-solving and interpersonal skills.
- Confidence in knowledge, skills, and ability to function in a team-based model of care.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
