POSITION: Security Officer

LOCATION: Kingston District

WORKING HOURS:

  • Full-Time & Part-Time
  • Rotating, Varied Shifts
  • Availability for days, evenings, nights, weekends, holidays, and potential unscheduled call-ins may be required by the district Supervisor/Manager.

PAY RATE: $18.75 to $22.50 per hour

JOB SUMMARY:
As a Security Officer, you will be accountable to the Commissionaire Site Supervisor/District Manager for the effective and efficient daily management of security operations at the designated site.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS:

  • Strong interpersonal and written communication abilities.
  • Ability to communicate calmly and confidently in all situations.
  • Professional interaction with individuals in a concise manner.
  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality for both Commissionaires and clients.
  • Proficiency in utilizing proprietary software used by the designated site/client.
  • Physical capability to conduct vehicle or foot patrols at site locations.
  • Ability to work independently or collaboratively within a team.
  • Excellent computer skills, including familiarity with secure networks and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook).
  • Experience with online scheduling applications.

SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIRED:
Reliability Status (Minimum 5 consecutive years of residency in Canada).

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Represent the Commissionaires and the client with professionalism in conduct, attire, and appearance.
  • Stay informed and adhere to all Commissionaires policies and Terms & Conditions of Employment.
  • Understand and follow all client and site Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and post instructions.
  • Familiarity with site security systems, including CCTV, access controls, and alarm systems.
  • Provide assistance and information to site personnel, visitors, and the public as needed.
  • Engage routinely with site personnel, visitors, contractors, and the general public.
  • Respond promptly to emergencies, coordinating with emergency services as necessary.
  • Manage the issuance and return of keys, ensuring adherence to key control procedures.
  • Oversee the distribution and collection of access control passes and maintain logs.
  • Offer telephone and counter services as required.
  • Conduct foot and vehicle patrols as necessary.
  • Perform escort services as directed by client site instructions or Commissionaires SOPs.
  • Maintain a daily log of activities and observations.
  • Report any unusual activities to the appropriate supervisor/client, including actions taken.
  • Prepare security and incident reports as required.
  • Maintain open communication with the Site/District Supervisor and the client.
  • Carry out any additional security-related duties as assigned by the Site Supervisor/District Manager or requested by the client.

NOTES:
All security roles operate 24/7, with up to 40 hours per week, and overtime may be available. Current Commissionaires will be prioritized for all Union locations and supervisory roles. Incomplete or multiple submissions may not be processed efficiently.
