We are currently in search of an Insolvency and Restructuring Legal Associate with 5 to 8 years of relevant experience to join our Burlington office. The successful candidate will undertake a variety of responsibilities, including but not limited to:

  1. Providing legal counsel to financial institutions and small to medium-sized enterprises, including serving as legal representatives for creditors, receivers, and trustees in various legal proceedings, disputes, and transactions;
  2. Handling Collection and Power of Sale matters;
  3. Offering legal insights on risk management and strategies for asset preservation;
  4. Advising on formal proposals, informal workouts, priority disputes, fraudulent transactions, corporate reorganizations, asset recovery, and receivership processes;
  5. Consulting with institutional lenders such as banks and credit unions, as well as private corporations, on all aspects of recovery for both secured and unsecured loans.

Qualifications and Experience Required:

  1. Exceptional academic credentials from a prestigious law school;
  2. 5 to 8 years of experience in Insolvency and Restructuring law;
  3. Strong analytical, drafting, advocacy, research, organizational, and communication skills, both written and verbal;
  4. Meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy;
  5. Comprehensive understanding of the Ontario Rules of Civil Procedure and Practice Directions;
  6. Familiarity with the Commercial List;
  7. A proven ability to work collaboratively with colleagues as well as independently.
