We are currently in search of an Insolvency and Restructuring Legal Associate with 5 to 8 years of relevant experience to join our Burlington office. The successful candidate will undertake a variety of responsibilities, including but not limited to:
- Providing legal counsel to financial institutions and small to medium-sized enterprises, including serving as legal representatives for creditors, receivers, and trustees in various legal proceedings, disputes, and transactions;
- Handling Collection and Power of Sale matters;
- Offering legal insights on risk management and strategies for asset preservation;
- Advising on formal proposals, informal workouts, priority disputes, fraudulent transactions, corporate reorganizations, asset recovery, and receivership processes;
- Consulting with institutional lenders such as banks and credit unions, as well as private corporations, on all aspects of recovery for both secured and unsecured loans.
Qualifications and Experience Required:
- Exceptional academic credentials from a prestigious law school;
- 5 to 8 years of experience in Insolvency and Restructuring law;
- Strong analytical, drafting, advocacy, research, organizational, and communication skills, both written and verbal;
- Meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy;
- Comprehensive understanding of the Ontario Rules of Civil Procedure and Practice Directions;
- Familiarity with the Commercial List;
- A proven ability to work collaboratively with colleagues as well as independently.
