Role Summary


What is the opportunity?

The Manager of Financial Crimes and AML Audit is a proactive, innovative, and adaptable professional who thrives in a collaborative environment. This role requires a solid understanding of risk management, AML/Sanctions compliance frameworks, and corporate governance, ideally within larger financial institutions. You will play a key role in Canadian platform audit assurance initiatives and ongoing monitoring, utilizing data analytics and visualizations, while contributing to the establishment of the Financial Crimes and AML Center of Excellence (CoE). Additionally, you will serve as a trusted advisor to both auditees and regional audit teams worldwide.

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute risk-based audit projects related to Financial Crimes and AML for the Canadian Platform efficiently, while adding value through data analytics.
  • Contribute to the development of continuous monitoring and assurance practices using data analytics.
  • Support CoE management as a trusted advisor, ensuring comprehensive and risk-focused coverage of Financial Crimes and AML in regional audit projects.
  • Initiate discussions and propose solutions for new challenges and opportunities, fostering an environment of innovation.
  • Help cultivate a positive, authentic, and collaborative workplace culture.
  • Continuously monitor and evaluate global developments in Financial Crimes and AML compliance and emerging risks.
  • Adapt to a hybrid working environment or work from the designated office location.

Qualifications for Success

Essential Skills

  • Proven team player with strong emotional intelligence and stakeholder management capabilities, able to prioritize client needs in a dynamic environment.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in risk management, AML, ATF, and Sanctions compliance within a large financial institution or consulting environment. A university degree in business, accounting, or law, along with a professional designation in financial crimes/AML (e.g., CAMS, CFCS) is required.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with demonstrated critical thinking abilities.
  • Familiarity with key AML/Sanctions compliance regulations, including Canadian (PCMLTFA, OSFI, FINTRAC), US (BSA), and UK regulations.
  • Intermediate proficiency in data extraction, visualization, and reporting tools (e.g., Tableau), along with strong analytical skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional certifications in accounting, auditing, or risk management.
  • Post-graduate qualifications (e.g., P. Eng., MSc - Data Science).
  • Experience in a matrixed organizational structure.
  • Prior experience in an audit capacity.
