Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Laboratory Technician to join our team in the Specimen Procurement unit. As a Laboratory Technician, you will be responsible for performing laboratory procedures, including phlebotomy, ECG, and specimen processing. You will also be responsible for receiving and preparing specimens for testing, entering information into the lab computer, and generating reports and work lists.

Key Responsibilities

  • Receive, sort, and prepare specimens for testing and referral
  • Receive patients, staff, and visitors to the laboratory
  • Perform blood collection (venipunctures and capillary punctures) and ECGs
  • Enter information into the lab computer and generate reports and work lists
  • Handle and distribute reports, record sheets, and specimens

Qualifications

  • Ontario Secondary School Diploma or equivalent
  • OSMT/CSMLS Certification or equivalent
  • Hospital experience preferred
  • Bilingualism in French/English an asset
