About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Technician to join our team at WSP Canada. As a Mechanical Technician, you will be responsible for executing technical tasks related to 3D design and 2D drafting for metal sheeting, general mechanics, and building mechanics within our project teams for the STM metro ventilation project.

Key Responsibilities
  • Identify problems and needs of clients;
  • Research and propose technical solutions in accordance with established standards. Participate in project cost evaluation;
  • Perform or participate in technical analyses and studies;
  • Create 3D models and 2D drawings for ventilation systems and silencers;
  • Create mechanical system drawings and building mechanics drawings;
  • Provide technical support on demand or throughout the project execution process. Verify compliance of workshop drawings. Modify plans following a change;
Requirements
  • Hold a DEC in Building Mechanics;
  • Have 5 years of experience in 3D design and 2D drafting of mechanical systems;
  • Be familiar with Revit and Autocad software;
  • Have experience in building mechanics (ventilation, heating, air conditioning, plumbing, fire protection), an asset;
  • Be familiar with various codes and standards (Plumbing Code, Building Code, ASHRAE,...);
  • Be familiar with Word and Excel software;
  • Hold a Construction ASP card, an asset;
  • Be familiar with the metro environment, an asset;
  • Master Revit software, an asset;
  • Any combination of training and experience will be considered;
Important Points
  • Work on large-scale multidisciplinary projects in a metro environment operated in a matrix mode;
  • The incumbent must be able to travel to various construction sites to participate in equipment testing and commissioning;
  • Conduct existing installation surveys;
  • Prepare inspection and testing plans (PIE) and participate in equipment commissioning;
  • Provide technical assistance during implementation: technical questions (QT), approval of workshop drawings and technical sheets, engineering directives (DI), construction instructions (IC), etc.
  • Occasionally work at night in metro facilities;
