Worksite: Central Library - Circulation

Position Overview: Under the supervision of the Head Supervisor of Circulation Services, the Library Assistant III plays a pivotal role in delivering clerical assistance to the Circulation team. This position also entails offering guidance and initial supervision to Library Assistant II and Library Support Assistant staff in the absence of direct oversight. The Library Assistant III is integral to the daily operations of the Circulation Services department, ensuring compliance with library policies and aligning with the organization’s vision, mission, and values.

Essential Qualifications:

To qualify for the Library Assistant III role, candidates must demonstrate relevant experience and educational background as outlined below:

Education: Completion of secondary education, complemented by pertinent commercial or library technician coursework.

Experience: A minimum of one year of substantial library experience is required.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Comprehensive understanding of the library's objectives, structure, procedures, services, and resources.
  • Capability to provide guidance and initial supervision to clerical staff; effective team-building and leadership skills.
  • Proficiency in integrated library software and other relevant applications, including Excel.
  • Aptitude for learning new technologies, applications, and processes.
  • Ability to evaluate procedures, implement improvements, and make informed decisions based on established practices.
  • Strong dedication to client service; approachable, practical, and responsive to community needs.
  • Innovative and adaptable in a fast-evolving library environment, supporting staff in embracing change.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, along with analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Employment Type: Regular Full-Time
Salary: $27.04 to $31.66 per hour
Work Schedule:

Monday to Thursday: 8:30am – 5:00pm (EDO Week 2 Thursdays)
Sunday: 8:30am – 5:00pm
