Key Responsibilities
  1. Uphold our safety culture by actively engaging in the Safety Program and adhering to all safety regulations and policies.
  2. Support the management and execution of Louisiana-Pacific's Sustainable Forest Management Plan in collaboration with industry and government stakeholders.
  3. Build partnerships with industry officials, government representatives, First Nations, stakeholders, and landowners to address land and resource stewardship challenges.
  4. Represent Louisiana-Pacific in various committees, roundtable discussions, and public meetings, such as the Dawson Creek Results Based Pilot Project Public Advisory Group.
  5. Foster positive relationships with team members, First Nations, government agencies, the public, and other stakeholders.
  6. Manage and prepare the Forest Operations Schedule for Louisiana-Pacific.
  7. Prepare and negotiate contracts, oversee performance, and authorize payments.
  8. Conduct field and office activities related to planning, including block design and reconnaissance.
  9. Ensure compliance with operational plans, company policies, safety programs, Sustainable Forestry Initiative Certification, and legal standards.
  10. Collaborate closely with the Harvesting Team to prepare and schedule blocks for harvesting.
  11. Coordinate block development and permitting processes with Louisiana-Pacific and contract team members.
  12. Develop and support project plans addressing land and resource stewardship at strategic, landscape, and watershed levels.
  13. Achieve performance metrics by engaging in Louisiana-Pacific's performance management system.
  14. Assist in budget preparation and manage costs within assigned responsibilities.
  15. Support the implementation and maintenance of the Dawson Creek Forest Certification program (SFI) as needed.
  16. Plan, participate in, and/or lead additional team projects as required.
Qualifications for Success
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in forestry.
  • Preference may be given to candidates with Registered Professional Forester status from the FPBC.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and project management skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team setting.
  • Capability to plan, coordinate resources, multitask, and adapt to changing circumstances.
  • In-depth knowledge of applicable B.C. legislation and policies.
  • Proficiency in computer applications and forestry software, including GIS.
  • Valid Class 5 driver's license.
Educational Requirements
  • University Degree or Forest Technician Diploma.
