Role Overview In the context of the ongoing energy transition, the Electrical Engineer will play a pivotal role in advancing clean energy initiatives, particularly those related to hydroelectric power generation. Our Protection and Control (P&C) team is seeking skilled professionals to contribute to various multidisciplinary projects, including the modernization of turbine-generator systems, electrical and mechanical auxiliary services, and automation processes within Hydro-Québec facilities. You will work in a dynamic environment that encourages skill development through collaboration with seasoned experts and offers opportunities for both internal and external training. We provide a flexible hybrid work model, allowing you to balance remote work with time spent in our offices. Key Responsibilities
  • Develop engineering solutions for Control and Protection systems, including:
    • Systems for monitoring and safeguarding turbine-generator units;
    • Instrumentation for generator sets, both analog and digital;
    • Computerized control networks for power plants;
    • Interfaces for speed controllers and auxiliary mechanical systems;
    • Remote management of discharge valves and water intakes;
    • Oversight of mechanical support systems (air, water, oil).
  • Design electrical systems for control and protection, producing single-line diagrams, protection and control schematics, wiring diagrams, and material lists.
  • Create specifications for DC power systems, including battery calculations and connection diagrams for various components.
  • Collaborate with engineers and technicians to execute technical tasks effectively.
  • Engage in project coordination meetings and design evaluations.
  • Work alongside other engineering disciplines to ensure project coherence.
  • Participate in site assessments and offer support during commissioning.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Licensed member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ).
  • Over seven years of relevant professional experience.
  • Strong understanding of electrical distribution, control, and protection systems.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel).
  • Fluent in both spoken and written French.
  • Proficient in professional English communication for national project collaboration.
  • Self-motivated, resourceful, and focused on project outcomes.
