Role Overview In light of the growing significance of the energy transition, we are seeking a Technician to contribute actively to clean energy initiatives, particularly in hydroelectric projects. Our team focused on switchgear and control is in search of candidates to support various engineering endeavors, including the modernization of turbine-generator units, electrical and mechanical auxiliary services, and automation within power facilities. This role offers the opportunity to work in a multidisciplinary setting, allowing for skill enhancement through collaboration with seasoned professionals and participation in both internal and external training programs. We provide a flexible hybrid work model that allows you to work from home as well as from our offices. Key Responsibilities
  1. Design electrical power systems and layouts for diverse hydroelectric projects.
  2. Assist in developing electrical systems, including schematics and layout drawings for switchgear, such as medium-voltage cabinets and electrical distribution centers.
  3. Create project deliverables, including plan views, elevations, detail drawings, and various layouts.
  4. Conduct or verify calculations for equipment sizing and power cable gauge selection.
Protection & Control Responsibilities
  1. Develop Control and Protection engineering using 2D (AutoCAD) and CAD (E3) software for various systems and equipment.
  • Control, measurement, monitoring, and protection systems for turbine-generator units.
  • Instrumentation for gensets, including analog and digital systems.
  • Computerized control networks for power plants.
  • Interface with speed controllers, pump units, and static excitation systems.
  • Remote control systems for discharge valves and water intakes.
  • Management of mechanical auxiliary systems (air, water, oil).
  • Contribute to the design of electrical systems for Control and Protection, including wiring diagrams and material lists.
  • Assist in designing DC power systems, including one-line diagrams and battery capacity calculations.
  • Support the preparation of quotations for equipment manufacturing and installation services.
Additional Responsibilities
  1. Collaborate with senior engineers and technicians on technical tasks.
  2. Participate in project coordination meetings and design evaluations.
  3. Coordinate efforts with other engineering disciplines involved in projects.
  4. Engage in site surveys and provide potential site assistance and start-up services.
Required Qualifications
  1. College diploma (DEC) in electrical engineering technologies.
  2. 0 to 5 years of relevant experience.
  3. Familiarity with electrical distribution, control, and protection is advantageous.
  4. Experience in electrical systems design is a plus.
  5. Proficiency in software tools (AutoCAD, E3, etc.) is beneficial.
  6. Basic knowledge of the Office suite (Outlook, Word, Excel).
  7. Fluency in spoken and written French is required.
  8. Basic English proficiency in a professional context.
  9. Must be autonomous, resourceful, and focused on project outcomes.
