Position Summary
This role offers a unique opportunity to engage with cutting-edge laser processing machinery and advanced robotics within a research and applications lab environment. As a hands-on technical expert, you will oversee the installation, configuration, maintenance, and training of operators on a diverse range of high-performance industrial equipment, including lasers, robotic systems, PLCs, and more from renowned global manufacturers. This equipment supports research and development initiatives focused on next-generation process monitoring and control technologies, as well as operator training tailored to specific customer applications across various advanced manufacturing sectors.

This is a full-time, on-site role.

Key Responsibilities:

Manage and schedule resources within the Applications Lab Provide technical guidance and support to both employees and clients utilizing the equipment Prepare robotic and laser systems with appropriate configurations for experimental purposes Design and plan basic automation systems Maintain service records and perform regular maintenance on all equipment Troubleshoot and repair laboratory electronics and control systems Update and enforce training manuals and standard operating procedures Assist with metallographic cross-sectioning and polishing tasks Analyze test outcomes using electronic reporting tools Undertake additional projects as required.

Qualifications

A college diploma in industrial automation, electronics, robotics, or a related discipline with 3-5 years of relevant experience, *OR* a university engineering degree in a related field with 2-3 years of relevant experience Proficiency in electronics, robotics, controls and automation, welding applications, and/or manufacturing technologies Competence in two or more CNC/robot programming environments such as G-Code, ABB, Kuka, or Fanuc Familiarity with common PLC/Ladder Logic programming environments Experience in implementing and configuring factory automation/fieldbus networks (e.g., EtherCAT, Ethernet/IP, DeviceNet) Strong problem-solving skills Highly organized and capable of working independently to achieve clearly defined objectives Excellent communication, negotiation, and instructional skills in English are essential Proficiency in additional languages such as Spanish, Japanese, Korean, Chinese, German, Italian, French, or Polish is advantageous but not mandatory.
