Job Title: Lead Process Engineer

Reports to: Manager Process Engineering

Department: Process Engineering Dept.

Location: Calgary, Alberta - On-site position.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide leadership, mentorship, and coordination for intermediate and junior process engineering staff. Conduct and assess Feasibility Studies, Conceptual Designs, Process Studies, and Detailed Engineering Designs. Oversee and validate process simulations and modeling for oil processing facilities. Develop and approve essential design documents including Material Balances, Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs), Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), and Shutdown Keys. Supervise and verify line sizing, Pressure Safety Valve (PSV) sizing, and preparation of equipment process data sheets. Facilitate P&ID/HAZOP reviews, generate control narratives, and prepare operational manuals. Collaborate with vendors and clients on engineering matters. Offer technical assistance to field personnel during start-up phases.

Technical Expertise:

Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills are essential. Experience with sweet and sour gas processing is required. Comprehensive knowledge of sweet and sour natural gas facility design and construction, including well-sites, gathering systems, compression, and grassroots gas processing plants. Familiarity with NGL recovery, acid gas injection, dehydration, refrigeration, sulfur plants, turbo-expanders, and gas sweetening units is advantageous. Proficient understanding of regulatory requirements related to gas processing. Knowledgeable in management of change processes. Awareness of budgetary and scheduling constraints, as well as safety considerations. Excellent time management and organizational capabilities. Diplomatic approach to maintaining strong client relationships. Ability to foster cohesive process teams.

Education and Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will hold a Professional Engineer (P. Eng.) designation. A degree in Chemical Engineering is required. A minimum of 10 years of experience, with a background in EPCM and gas processing. Experience in process design, including mass balances, process flow diagrams, and support services. Systems design experience, including piping and instrument diagrams, cause and effect diagrams, hazard and operability design reviews, and systems support services. Proficiency in HYSYS and related simulation software, as well as engineering codes (API, ASME).
