About the Role
Vancouver Coastal Health is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Addiction Nurse to join our team at the Vancouver Detox Centre. As an Addiction Nurse, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality care to individuals struggling with addiction and substance use disorders.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care and supportive counseling to clients in the process of detoxification, stabilization, and transition into other residential addiction services.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members, educational resources, and other health professionals to achieve excellence in client-centered care and education.
- Develop and implement individualized care plans that address the unique needs of each client.
- Conduct comprehensive assessments and provide evidence-based interventions to support clients in achieving their recovery goals.
- Work effectively with challenging clients to maintain a safe environment for clients and staff.
Requirements
- Current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse or Registered Psychiatric Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
- Two (2) years' recent, related clinical experience providing treatment services to individuals with mental health and/or substance use concerns.
- Valid BC Driver's License and access to a personal vehicle for business-related purposes.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of the principles of recovery and trauma-informed practice.
- Broad knowledge of nursing theory and practice within a client/family-centered model of care.
- Knowledge of BCCNM Standards for Nursing Practice.
- General knowledge of Trauma Informed Practice and Harm Reduction approaches and Strengths-based care.
