Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our team as an Addiction Nurse. As an Addiction Nurse, you will provide direct nursing care and supportive counseling to clients who are in the process of detoxification, stabilization, and/or transitioning into other residential addiction services.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care and supportive counseling to clients
- Work effectively with challenging clients to maintain a safe environment
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to achieve excellence in client-centered care and education
- Develop and implement individualized care plans to meet the unique needs of clients
- Provide education and support to clients and their families on addiction and recovery
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance the delivery of addiction services
Qualifications
Education and Experience
- Current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives
- Two years' recent, related clinical experience providing treatment services to individuals with mental health and/or substance use concerns
- Valid BC Driver's License and access to a personal vehicle for business-related purposes
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of the principles of recovery and trauma-informed practice
- Broad knowledge of nursing theory and practice within a client/family-centered model of care
- Knowledge of BCCNM Standards for Nursing Practice
- General knowledge of Trauma-Informed Practice and Harm Reduction approaches and Strengths-Based Care
- Demonstrated ability to promote Indigenous Cultural Safety
- Demonstrated ability to provide competent and culturally safe care in a variety of settings and with diverse populations
