We are seeking a skilled Utility Worker to join our team at Nova Scotia Health. As a key member of our facilities maintenance team, you will play a vital role in maintaining the cleanliness and safety of our hospital environment.
Your primary responsibilities will include cleaning, mopping, and dusting all areas of the hospital, as well as performing floor care tasks such as scrubbing and waxing floors. You will also be responsible for shampooing carpets and chairs, removing waste, and participating in chemical spill cleanups.
In addition to these tasks, you will be required to perform laundry duties, set up rooms, and clean windows. You may also be called upon to apply salt during winter months and assist with isolation room cleaning, flood cleanups, and blood spill cleanups.
About YouWe are looking for a candidate with a strong work ethic and excellent communication skills. A Grade 12/GED or equivalent work experience is required, and preference will be given to applicants with cleaning and floor care experience.
Competencies in other languages, particularly French, are an asset. Please ensure your resume is up to date and includes all relevant education, experience, training, and certifications.
HoursThis is a casual relief position, and you will be required to work a variety of shifts, including days, evenings, and weekends.
Compensation and BenefitsYou will be compensated at a rate of $20.02 per hour and may be eligible for our benefits package, which includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage, as well as a defined benefit pension plan.
