Nutrition and Food Services Utility Worker
This role involves preparing and serving meals and supplies to patients, residents, and staff, while maintaining a clean and safe environment.
Nova Scotia Health is the largest provider of health services in Nova Scotia, with a diverse team of professionals providing high-quality inpatient and outpatient services.
The successful candidate will work in a patient and retail food service setting, reporting to the Manager/Food Service Supervisor.
About the Job
- Prepare and serve meals and supplies to patients, residents, and staff
- Clean and sanitize patient trays, equipment, and workplaces
- Support safe food handling procedures and provide excellent customer service
- Perform a variety of key work activities, including patient meal selections, product preparation, delivery and collection, food handling, and menu duties
About You
- Grade 12/GED or equivalent, or demonstrated skills and/or relevant work experience
- Demonstrated competency in English and basic Math
- Restaurant experience and customer service skills considered an asset
- Ability to work as part of a team and communicate effectively
- Ability to perform duties within expected timeframes and standards of accuracy
Working Conditions
- Frequent physical demands, including standing, walking, bending, lifting, and transferring/transporting equipment
- Special footwear may be required for some food service areas
- Heavy lifting and physically demanding tasks
Compensation and Benefits
- $19.26 - $20.02 Hourly
- Successful candidates may be eligible for our benefits package, including health, dental, travel, and life insurance coverage
