Role Summary

The Finance Department plays a crucial role in guiding the Corporation's financial strategies and supports the execution of the Council's Strategic Plan through its core functions: accounting, corporate finance, procurement, and revenue management. The Performance Analyst serves as the key financial resource for designated operational departments, providing essential business planning, analytical insights, and financial advisory services. This role is pivotal in ensuring adherence to the City's financial policies and processes, working closely with departmental management while reporting to the Manager of Business Planning and Budget.

Educational Requirements
  • A four-year university degree in Business Administration, Commerce, Economics, or a related discipline.
  • Progress towards obtaining a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation from the Chartered Professional Accountants of Canada.

Experience Requirements
  • A minimum of three years of experience in roles with responsibilities aligned with this position.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Familiarity with Public Sector Accounting Board Standards and the Municipal Performance Measurement Program (MPMP).
  • Proven ability to:
    • Engage effectively with staff at all levels.
    • Develop and implement Key Performance Indicators in a public sector context.
    • Travel to various locations as necessary.
  • Intermediate proficiency in analytical, interpersonal, organizational, project management, and written communication skills.
  • Competence in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
  • Willingness to attend meetings outside of standard working hours as required.
Employment Conditions
  • Successful completion of a Criminal Record Check is mandatory for new hires.
Additional Information

Work Location: City Hall

Work Hours: Standard work hours are 35 hours per week, with some flexibility required.

Compensation: This temporary full-time position offers a competitive salary range and includes health and dental benefits, optional pension plan enrollment, and prorated sick and vacation leave based on employment duration.
