Position Overview

The Engineering Project Leader will spearhead initiatives related to Walmart Canada's innovative OMNI automation strategy for distribution and fulfillment centers. This role encompasses vendor selection, facility design, systems integration, and data analytics, overseeing project expenditures exceeding $400 million.

Key Responsibilities

1. As the principal engineer, you will devise solutions and oversee the execution of Walmart's OMNI automation strategic vision in collaboration with senior management. Ensure alignment with organizational goals and foster interdepartmental collaboration to enhance effectiveness.
2. Champion cutting-edge solutions by guiding selected vendor partners to fulfill Walmart's specifications while managing substantial vendor budgets for each project.
3. Act as the automation Subject Matter Expert, leading Request for Proposal (RFP) discussions with various vendors and collaborating with cross-functional teams to establish contract agreements.
4. Analyze budgets and financial reports to assess implications for the implementation and management of solutions. Adjust strategies as necessary, consistently tracking progress and integrating new technologies and stakeholder insights. Develop Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to evaluate project success before and after implementation.
5. Direct facility design, optimization efforts, process workshops, and Kaizen events.
6. Create operational cost models, facility throughput models, and process simulation models.
7. During project execution, provide expert guidance to project directors regarding technical workstreams, serving as a liaison between project directors and various technical disciplines.
8. Ensure effective project turnover and knowledge transfer from project teams to operational and support teams, acting as the primary technical contact for end users until final handover.

Qualifications

Education: A degree in Engineering (Industrial or Mechanical) is required.
Experience: 3-5+ years in supply chain and automation or robotics is advantageous.
