We are seeking a highly skilled Dietitian to join our team at Island Health. As a Dietitian, you will play a critical role in managing the nutritional needs of patients with chronic disease and providing adult education.
Key Responsibilities:- Registration with the College of Dietitians of British Columbia (CDBC) and eligibility for membership with the Dietitians of Canada (DC)
- Bachelor degree from a recognized university with a major in dietetics and completion of a recognized dietetic internship at an accredited institution
- Two (2) years recent, related experience managing the nutritional needs of people with chronic disease and providing adult education
- Travel is a requirement of this position, and the use of a personal vehicle and a valid BC driver's license is required
- Demonstrate knowledge of chronic disease management and nutritional care
- Demonstrate ability to determine and deal with changing and emerging situations with patients in a flexible and adaptable manner
- Demonstrate ability to facilitate and build effective relationships with physicians, other disciplines, and community partners that foster a team approach to patient care
- Working knowledge of community resources, basic computer skills, and primary health care principles
- Ability to work inter-collegially on a multidisciplinary team, show initiative, and act independently
- Ability to communicate effectively with the team, physicians, patients, their families, and caregivers
