We are looking for a talented Communications Manager to enhance our communications strategy. About the Organization
The Centre for Israel and Jewish Affairs (CIJA) is dedicated to fostering relationships with key stakeholders in government, media, academia, and various communities to promote a deeper understanding of issues affecting the Jewish community. CIJA actively combats antisemitism and advocates for fundamental rights, social justice, and support for Israel. As the advocacy representative of the Jewish Federations of Canada, CIJA is a national, non-partisan, non-profit entity committed to enhancing the quality of Jewish life in Canada through effective public policy advocacy.
CIJA leverages a robust national network to support regional initiatives across Canada and, as the Canadian affiliate of the World Jewish Congress, engages in international advocacy efforts.
Role Overview
The Communications Manager for Ontario collaborates closely with the CIJA communications team to devise and execute impactful communication strategies and campaigns aimed at advancing CIJA's goals with advocacy audiences and community partners.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Communications
- Plan, execute, and oversee communication projects, including integrated campaigns.
- Develop key messaging that aligns with CIJA's standards.
- Identify opportunities to further CIJA's advocacy and community goals.
- Provide communication support and guidance to Federation Executives.
- Ontario Communications Leadership
- Serve as the main point of contact between the communications team and the Ontario division.
- Collaborate with the VP Ontario to formulate and implement the communications strategy for the province.
- Create and disseminate communications for stakeholders, focusing on collaboration with local partners.
- National Issues Management and Crisis Communications
- Proactively identify potential issues that may affect CIJA's reputation.
- Contribute to the development of crisis communication strategies.
- Provide strategic communication support to federation leadership and partner agencies.
- Special Projects
- Undertake additional projects as assigned by the supervisor.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in communications, journalism, public relations, or marketing.
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
- Resourceful problem-solver with strong interpersonal skills.
- Proficient in MS Office and capable of learning new systems.
- Self-driven with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple deadlines.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with both local and national teams.
- Knowledge of issues pertinent to Canada's Jewish community is an asset.
- Bilingualism is a plus.
- Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as necessary.
