Job Description

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Optical Spectroscopy Technician to join our team at the National Research Council Canada. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing technical support and expertise in the field of optical spectroscopy, including the design, development, and maintenance of optical instruments and systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and maintain optical instruments and systems, including spectrometers, interferometers, and other optical devices.
  • Conduct experiments and measurements using optical instruments and systems, and analyze data to ensure accuracy and precision.
  • Provide technical support and expertise to researchers and engineers, including training and guidance on the use of optical instruments and systems.
  • Collaborate with other teams and departments to develop and implement new optical instruments and systems.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest developments and advancements in the field of optical spectroscopy, and apply this knowledge to improve our instruments and systems.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Physics, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in optical spectroscopy, including design, development, and maintenance of optical instruments and systems.
  • Strong knowledge of optical principles and instrumentation, including spectrometers, interferometers, and other optical devices.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work with researchers, engineers, and other stakeholders.

Working Conditions:

The successful candidate will be required to work in a laboratory setting, with regular exposure to optical instruments and systems. The candidate will also be required to travel to other locations as needed to collaborate with other teams and departments.
