Equipment Operator

Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and safety-conscious Equipment Operator to join our team at CP. As an Equipment Operator, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of various terminal equipment, including shunt trucks, light duty pickup trucks, fuel trucks, trailers, chassis, forklift, sweeper truck, and other equipment.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate terminal equipment in a safe and efficient manner, adhering to all safety protocols and procedures.
- Host containers/chassis within the terminal to support train loading operations.
- Perform general duties, including pre-tripping of perishable intermodal containers, building electric reefer container sets on railcars, plugging in reefers on the ground, and monitoring performance.
- Conduct visual inspections and report on damages and defects of intermodal equipment.
- Prepare railcars for proper loading of different-size containers by placing pedestals and spacers.
- Assist in securing containers once loaded to railcars (walking on railcar platforms, locking/unlocking IBC's).
- Update systems as required once work is completed.
- Perform other miscellaneous duties as required.
Requirements
- High School Graduation or General Equivalency Diploma (GED).
- Possess advanced reading and writing skills, including the ability to follow advanced written instruction and/or training in skills such as driving.
- Strong safety mindset, with a focus on preventing accidents and injuries in a heavy equipment environment.
- Ability to work on various shifts and days off, including weekends and holidays.
