Job Title: Director of Equity and Community Supports

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to join our team as the Director of Equity and Community Supports. This is a critical role that will play a key part in shaping the University of King's College's commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion.

About the Role

The Director of Equity and Community Supports will be responsible for leading the development and implementation of strategies to promote equity, diversity, and inclusion across the university. This will involve working closely with senior leadership, faculty, staff, and students to create a welcoming and inclusive environment for all members of the community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement strategies to promote equity, diversity, and inclusion across the university
  • Lead the development of policies and procedures related to equity, diversity, and inclusion
  • Provide training and support to faculty, staff, and students on equity, diversity, and inclusion
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to develop and implement initiatives to promote equity, diversity, and inclusion
  • Develop and maintain relationships with community organizations and stakeholders to promote equity, diversity, and inclusion
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A Master's degree in a relevant field, such as human rights, diversity, equity, and inclusion
  • At least 5 years of experience in a senior role addressing social/human/equity services and support
  • Experience working with members of a senior leadership team on organization-wide committees and collaboratively with multiple stakeholders
  • Experience in collating and analyzing qualitative and quantitative data and information
  • Significant experience in policy development, design, and administration
  • An intersectional analysis and understanding of racism and other forms of institutionalized oppression
  • Experience working with the effects of oppression on individuals and communities
  • A demonstrated aptitude for managing diverse and sometimes conflicting responsibilities, combined with flexibility and strong conflict-resolution and problem-solving skills
  • Effective communication, advocacy, and rapport-building skills
  • Knowledge of support systems and community resources within Halifax and surrounding areas
  • Awareness of provincial and federal laws relating to equity
