Job Summary

Dillon Consulting is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Civil Project Manager to join our team. As a key member of our Land Development group, you will be responsible for leading complex civil engineering projects from conception to completion.

Responsibilities

  • Lead project management for residential subdivision projects and site plan projects within the Greater Toronto Area (GTA)
  • Assist in scheduling and coordinating activities with supporting staff and provide quality assurance
  • Manage projects, correspond with approval agencies, and deal directly with clients regarding budgets, invoicing, and scheduling deliverables
  • Work with Contract Administration staff to ensure the best interests of clients are achieved during the construction implementation stage
  • Manage or support post-construction activities, including letter of credit reductions, construction certifications, municipal assumption activities, registration clearances, etc.
  • Complete various financial management activities, including invoicing, collections/AR, backlog analysis, etc.

Project Engineer Component

  • Prepare and coordinate detailed design activities, including earthworks, site grading, sewer and watermain design, phasing plans, road and parking lot design, utility coordination, stormwater management, groundwater management, and erosion and sedimentation control plans
  • Work closely with other project managers, Team Leads, and designers to perform various design and approval-related tasks, including preparation and coordination of Preliminary Servicing Reports (PSI), Functional Servicing Reports, Design Briefs, and Stormwater Management Reports
  • Work directly with the project consultant team and client representatives to facilitate design coordination and direct contact with approval agencies to expedite addressing comments
  • Provide leadership and technical guidance to junior staff and assist in their skill development and growth
  • Organize and lead municipal engineering designs (use of Civil 3D and other land development software is an asset but not required)

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related degree
  • Registered as a Professional Engineer in Ontario
  • Expert knowledge of Subdivision and Site Plan Design
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D is an asset
  • A working knowledge of Stormwater Management practices and techniques

Experience

  • Minimum of 8 years of project management experience in the Civil/Land Development sector
  • Excellent communication and report writing skills and ability to prioritize and manage multiple project timelines
  • Experience working on projects in Ontario is an asset
  • Experience related to subdivision design and approvals is preferred
  • Experience with a variety of land development projects ranging from low-rise to large-scale mixed-use redevelopment Subdivision Approvals through to Site Plan for infill development is an asset
  • A passion for learning new ways to use design software to produce smarter and faster designs and a desire to be on the leading edge and stay there
  • A desire to make the world a better place through professional work and an appreciation that this must be done pragmatically in the context of project budgets and what agencies will approve
