About the Role:

Reporting to the Director, the Manager of Finance will play a pivotal role in managing intricate financial and administrative functions that align with the department's objectives. This position involves advising on financial strategies, developing and overseeing budgets, and providing leadership in operational and human resources management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Preparation and management of departmental budgets.

  • Ensuring financial integrity through robust financial controls.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • A university degree along with a professional accounting designation or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience:

  • A minimum of five years of progressive experience in financial management, ideally within a post-secondary institution.
  • Proven experience in managing complex budgets and financial operations.
  • Experience in providing financial guidance to senior leadership and participating in strategic planning.
  • Experience in a unionized environment is preferred.
  • Demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion in the workplace.

Skills:

  • Proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel and Word, with advanced knowledge in finance and accounting.
  • Familiarity with financial and human resources information systems.
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills, alongside strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
