About the Role:
We are seeking a highly skilled Environmental Health Specialist to join our team at Raytheon Technologies. As an Environmental Health Specialist, you will play a key part in ensuring compliance with environmental regulations and company policies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor and ensure compliance with environmental regulations and company policies.
- Conduct routine inspections and audits to identify potential environmental hazards and recommend corrective actions.
- Maintain records related to environmental compliance, including waste management, air emissions, and water quality.
- Conduct regular safety inspections of facilities and equipment to ensure compliance with safety standards.
- Identify and report unsafe conditions, practices, and behaviors, and follow up on corrective actions.
- Develop and deliver EHS training programs for employees.
- Support the investigation of accidents, incidents, and near misses to identify root causes and recommend preventive measures.
- Prepare and submit required environmental and safety reports to regulatory agencies.
- Stay up to date with changes in EHS regulations and standards to ensure ongoing compliance.
- Properly handle, store, and dispose of hazardous materials.
- Support company sustainability initiatives by participating in environmental conservation and waste reduction programs.
- Support Workplace Safety & Insurance Board (WSIB) claims, with a focus on early and safe return to work.
Requirements:
- 2-5 years' work experience in an Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) related position within a manufacturing environment.
- Professional EHS designation (e.g. EP, CRSP, AE, CET) is considered a strong asset.
- Knowledge of processing and managing WSIB claims.
- Previous involvement working with Ontario health and safety regulations.
- Experience working with the Environmental Protection Act.
- Effective verbal and written communicator at all levels in the organization.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite, along with various other software functions.
- Ability to manage conflicting priorities and deadlines, as well as managing a large amount of information at one time.
- Previous experience with employee wellness programs, health promotion activities, awareness campaigns, etc.
- Ability to establish and foster continued employee trust enhancing the safety culture.
- Strong leadership skills.
- Highly effective communications skills.
- Proven ability to solve technical problems and make sound decisions.
- Highly motivated with a demonstrated positive attitude.
- Willingness to learn and acquire knowledge/understanding through study, instruction or experience.
