Job Title: ESL Instructor

We are seeking a qualified ESL Instructor to join our team at the Halton District School Board. As an ESL Instructor, you will be responsible for teaching English as a Second Language courses to adult learners using the CLB standards and framework.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and deliver English as a Second Language classes in a LINC/ESL program based on the PBLA guidelines
  • Assess learners' language gains and progress according to the Canadian Language Benchmarks using Portfolio Based Language Assessment (PBLA) protocols
  • Conduct classes in a respectful and engaging manner, which fosters self-directed learning leading to the achievement of personal goals
  • Develop and deliver sector-specific language training, as required
Requirements:
  • OCELT designation (certification/teacher-certification)
  • Minimum 2 years of teaching experience, in an adult second language learning environment
  • Strong understanding of and experience in using the Canadian Language Benchmarks and the associated Curriculum Guidelines
  • Experience providing instruction using a variety of online delivery tools and software
  • Experience with Google Classroom, an asset
