Job Title: ESL Instructor

We are seeking a qualified ESL Instructor to join our team at the Halton District School Board. As an ESL Instructor, you will be responsible for teaching English as a Second Language courses to adult learners using the CLB standards and framework.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Teach a variety of adult English as a Second Language courses using the CLB standards and framework.
  • Develop and deliver sector-specific language training, as needed.
  • Assess learners' language gains and progress according to the Canadian Language Benchmarks using Portfolio Based Language Assessment (PBLA) protocols.
  • Design, implement, and instruct English as a Second Language classes in a LINC/ESL program based on the PBLA guidelines.
Requirements:
  • OCELT designation.
  • Minimum 2 years of teaching experience in an adult second language learning environment.
  • Strong understanding of and experience in using the Canadian Language Benchmarks and the associated Curriculum Guidelines.
  • Experience providing instruction using a variety of online delivery tools and software, including Google Classroom.
  • Excellent English communication and interpersonal skills.
