We are actively seeking a Marine Operations Officer to become a vital part of our team at Océan.

Why is this position unique?

Primary Duties:

  • Adhere to the Captain's directives and assist in guaranteeing the vessel's safe navigation.
  • Efficiently organize and oversee the operations of the vessel.
  • Coordinate and manage maintenance tasks for the vessel.
  • Assess weather patterns and navigation specifics.
  • Utilize navigation instruments to ascertain the vessel's location and velocity.
  • Steer the vessel according to the planned route and timetable, ensuring stability as directed by the Captain.
  • Contribute to the Health, Safety, and Environmental Management System.

Our Preferred Candidate Will Possess:

  • Watchkeeping Mate, Near Coastal certification, or Chief Mate 150 Gross Tonnage, Domestic certification
  • Valid Marine Medical certification from Transport Canada
  • Required Proficiency Certificates: STCW Basic Safety, MED Proficiency in Survival Craft and Rescue Boats, Advanced Fire Fighting
  • General Operator Certificate
  • At least 1 year of experience in vessel maneuvers
  • Ideally, 3 years of experience as a Chief Officer
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills
  • Proficiency in French (advanced) and English (intermediate), both spoken and written
