Essential Information:

  • Certification Requirements: Must possess CSTS-09 or CSTS-2020, WHMIS 2015, and Ground Disturbance Level 2.
  • Experience: A minimum of 2 years as a Swamper on a Hydrovac Truck or equivalent experience is required.
  • Work Schedule: Monday to Friday, from 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM (includes 8 hours of regular time and 2 hours of overtime).
  • Availability: Willingness to work evenings and weekends as part of an on-call rotation is necessary.
  • Compensation: Hourly rate will be based on experience.
  • Benefits: Health benefits, pension plan, RRSP matching, and vacation pay are provided.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Perform slot trenching, daylighting, and excavation tasks.
  • Safely expose telecommunication lines and utility services.
  • Ensure all Hydrovac truck equipment is maintained in optimal condition.
  • Conduct routine maintenance and maintain cleanliness of equipment.
  • Complete daily paperwork accurately and promptly.
  • Set up and verify grounding and bonding procedures for Hydrovac operations.
  • Prioritize health and safety in all work activities.
  • Ability to work in confined spaces and lift up to 50 pounds.

Qualifications and Certifications:

  • Required safety certifications: CSTS-2020, WHMIS 2015, Ground Disturbance Level 2, Fall Protection, and Confined Space Entry & Monitor.
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience as a Swamper on a Hydrovac Truck.
  • Must have reliable transportation to and from work.
  • Ability to work in physically demanding environments.
  • Experience in safety-sensitive and congested work areas is essential.
  • A Class 3 driver's license is advantageous.
  • Valid driver's license is mandatory.
  • A driver's abstract must be provided within 30 days prior to the start of employment.
  • Successful completion of pre-access drug and alcohol testing is required.
  • Proficient English language skills are necessary.

Education: High school diploma or equivalent is required.
