Collaborating with fellow directors from the outset, you will engage in discussions regarding project intentions prior to making any commitments. You will consider both quantifiable aspects such as rendering, performance, and memory, alongside qualitative factors like timing and momentum. By realistically assessing the situation, you will formulate a practical plan to transition from ideation to execution.
Each day in development presents a unique blend of anticipated and unexpected challenges, yet you will maintain a focus on the overarching objectives. As a strategic planner and tactical thinker, you will harmonize immediate priorities with long-term aspirations, consistently evaluating the future implications of your decisions.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with core team members to establish the overarching vision and assess technical feasibility.
- Identify and evaluate potential risks (engine, data, features, etc.).
- Review existing tools and occasionally design custom solutions to enhance art pipelines and workflows, ensuring the vision is sustained .
- Conduct meetings with technical artists and assistant technical art directors to exchange information and updates, enforce standards, set benchmarks, and provide feedback.
- Address specific, complex, escalated issues and approve technical specifications .
- Prepare post-mortem analyses and recommend improvements for the creation and integration of graphic data.
- Anticipate technological advancements and stay informed on market trends to define best practices, sharing insights with our studios and the industry.
- Engage in recruitment efforts to build and nurture the technical art team.
What You Bring
- Experience in art, technical art, programming, or related fields, along with leadership experience.
- Familiarity with bug tracking software (e.g., Jira) and version control systems (e.g., Perforce).
- A highly innovative, collaborative, empathetic, and solution-focused mindset.
- Strong critical thinking, time management, and organizational skills.
- Attention to detail, curiosity, resourcefulness, and adaptability.
