  • NOC Job Code/Title: Sports Coach

We are seeking a passionate, committed, and nurturing Taekwondo Instructor. Your main responsibility will be to oversee and guide students across various skill levels in Taekwondo, as well as coach competitive athletes in the sport.

To excel in this role, you should be prepared to support the lead instructor in crafting and executing our club's educational framework while also identifying and addressing challenges related to the physical, technical, and emotional growth of our students. Strong communication abilities, a solid understanding of Taekwondo, and effective teaching methodologies are essential. Additionally, you should embody the qualities of a positive role model for our students both within and beyond the training environment.

Key Responsibilities
- Cultivate a supportive learning atmosphere
- Demonstrate and teach athletic or sports activities to individuals and groups
- Instruct both basic and advanced techniques to students in line with Niagara Taekwondo's educational framework
- Collaborate with the lead instructor to develop lesson plans and learning objectives, including syllabus creation
- Track student progress and pinpoint areas of excellence or concern
- Uphold safety protocols and regulations
- Ensure the training area and all equipment are maintained in a clean and safe condition
- Assist in organizing and executing club events such as camps, tournaments, and excursions
- Coach and/or support students and staff during tournaments as necessary
- Maintain a professional and respectable personal image
- Mentor junior instructors in techniques and skill development
- Provide guidance to parents and students regarding individual performance
- Monitor student progress and offer feedback on performance and curriculum suitability to the training director

Qualifications and Skills
- Minimum of 3rd Degree WT Black Belt
- At least 5 years of teaching experience
- Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills
- Excellent communication and decision-making abilities
- Comfortable instructing students of all ages in both small and large group settings
- A compassionate and understanding demeanor with a genuine desire to make a positive impact
- First Aid (including CPR) certification, or willingness to obtain certification
- Must provide a criminal record check, including Vulnerable Sector Screening (VSS).
