Job Summary

The Avon Maitland District School Board is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented individual to fill the role of Technical Resource Assistant. As a key member of our team, you will provide critical support to our staff and students in the library and technology areas.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support to staff and students in the library and technology areas, including troubleshooting and maintenance of equipment and software.
  • Assist with the organization and management of learning resources, including cataloging, inventory control, and patron information.
  • Maintain the library circulation system and ensure that it is functioning properly.
  • Support the ordering and processing of new resources, including books, supplies, and equipment.
  • Assist with promotional activities, such as book fairs, and provide support for events and meetings.
  • Supervise the library or computer lab during non-instructional time, as needed.

Student and Staff Support

  • Assist students with technical issues, including login and password support, and provide guidance on the use of technology to support resource-based learning.
  • Work with individual and small groups of students to provide technical support and support with library resources.
  • Support and promote digital citizenship and appropriate student behavior, in accordance with school code of conduct.

Technical Support

  • Provide first response troubleshooting for minor technical issues, including computers, printers, photocopiers, and other equipment.
  • Maintain new generation learning (NGL) agreements and collect NGL devices at year-end, as directed by IT staff.
  • Assist with troubleshooting standard wireless connectivity issues, under the direction of IT staff.

Other Related Duties

  • May include lifting and moving computer equipment and peripherals, book orders, and other materials.
  • May assist with equipment set-up for meetings and assemblies.

Qualifications

  • One year college-level diploma or certificate, plus up to six months related experience, or a combination of experience, education, and training that is considered equivalent.
  • Proven computer literacy, minor computer maintenance, and troubleshooting skills.
  • The capacity to work independently, problem-solve, and multi-task in a busy environment.
  • Proven professional, interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills, and a high degree of confidentiality.
  • Access to a reliable method of transportation and ability to attend specific schools.
  • Availability to accept assignments on a casual basis during the day and with short notice.
