Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Upholstery Specialist to join our team at Coquitlam Upholstery Shop Ltd. This role involves a variety of tasks focused on restoring and customizing furniture to meet client specifications.

Qualifications
  • Education: Completion of secondary (high) school graduation certificate is required.
  • Experience: A minimum of 1 year to less than 2 years in a related field is preferred.
Work Environment

The work site is typically dusty, requiring attention to cleanliness and safety.

Key Responsibilities
  • Engage with clients to discuss their preferences regarding upholstery fabric, color, and style.
  • Replace damaged components such as webbing and springs to ensure furniture durability.
  • Apply ornamental trim, braids, or buttons using techniques such as tacking, gluing, or sewing.
  • Repair and refinish furniture frames and wooden surfaces to restore their original beauty.
  • Create custom designs tailored to individual client needs.
Materials Used

The primary material utilized in this role is leather.

Industry Experience

Experience in a furniture upholstery and repair shop is essential, with a focus on antique furniture and furnishings.

Skills and Abilities
  • Strong manual dexterity and attention to detail.
  • Excellent hand-eye coordination and the ability to distinguish between colors.
  • Physical capability to perform a combination of sitting, standing, and walking, including bending, crouching, and kneeling.
