About the Role:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Medical Device Development Engineer to join our team at Baylis Medical Technologies Inc. As a key member of our research and development team, you will play a critical role in the conception and development of novel medical devices for minimally invasive procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and lead the design and development of new medical devices, from concept generation through to commercialization.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including regulatory, intellectual property, and manufacturing, to ensure successful product development and launch.
- Support the development of intellectual property within the company, including patent applications and product approvals.
- Contribute to the development of sustaining activities on commercial production lines, ensuring continuous improvement and optimization of existing products.
- Work closely with the regulatory department to obtain product approvals and ensure compliance with relevant regulations.
Requirements:
- Master's or Ph.D. degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- At least 8+ years of experience in medical device development, with a strong focus on product development and design for manufacture.
- Excellent aptitude for mechanical engineering design, with a strong understanding of design for manufacture and testing.
- Strong hypothesis-driven experimental design and statistical analysis skills, with the ability to independently develop and adapt work plans based on vague or changing project goals.
- Dynamic, flexible approach to work with a results-oriented attitude, with a strong interest in biomedical technology.
- Previous experience with the development of single-use medical devices, such as catheters, sheaths, guidewires, dilators, or balloon catheters.
- Understanding of design for manufacture of medical devices and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
