Key Responsibilities
Collaborate in the formulation of a comprehensive strategy aimed at improving co-op student retention and engagement, aligned with the strategic goals of the University and CCEE; Provide tailored support to co-op students, ensuring they progress effectively in both their co-op and academic pathways; Stay informed on best practices in student retention and engagement, integrating innovative approaches into departmental initiatives; Build partnerships with campus stakeholders to offer timely interventions and support for co-op students; Identify challenges faced by co-op students and connect them with relevant resources and services; Spearhead the development of a first-year co-op student engagement strategy, encompassing events, programming, marketing, and outreach; Oversee volunteer outreach efforts to engage co-op students as program ambassadors; Analyze co-op attrition rates linked to academic performance to inform retention strategies; Maintain a comprehensive database for qualitative and quantitative reporting on co-op student retention and progression; Recruit, train, and supervise student staff to support the co-op engagement strategy.Qualifications
A bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Psychology, Communication, or Education, along with completion of Mental Health and First Aid training; 3-5 years of experience in co-op programs, academic advising, or student affairs, with 1-2 years in a leadership or supervisory capacity; In-depth knowledge of Brock University and its co-op offerings; Experience in assessing client needs and developing personalized action plans; Ability to adapt quickly to change and navigate ambiguity; Strong understanding of course calendars, offerings, program requirements, and co-op course sequencing; Familiarity with university regulations and departmental policies; Knowledge of Ontario Human Rights legislation and applicable disability laws; Proficiency in computer applications including MS Office Suite and Brock-specific systems; Familiarity with social media platforms and content creation tools; Exceptional skills in persuasion and motivation; Advanced conflict resolution abilities with a tactful communication style; Proven capacity to cultivate and maintain professional relationships across diverse student populations; Strong judgment and crisis management skills, with the ability to evaluate and resolve issues effectively; Innovative, adaptable, and committed to teamwork and integrity.Preferred Qualifications
Background or experience in counseling or psychology.Compensation and Benefits
Job Grade (K), Salary Scale ($57,400-$98,400); Target Hiring Range: $57,400-$65,000; Comprehensive benefits package including tuition waiver.Commitment to Diversity
