We are currently in search of a Senior Commercial Underwriter to offer underwriting expertise and guidance to our team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Make individual pricing and risk selection decisions within the designated underwriting authority, adhering to company policies.
- Provide mentorship and support to junior underwriters.
- Review and assist in updating policy wordings in line with Lloyds contracts.
- Gather and assess background information regarding risks.
- Utilize specialized software to analyze statistical data.
- Exercise sound judgment in underwriting decisions and negotiations.
- Determine premiums and create competitive quotes.
- Establish the wording of insurance policies.
- Draft terms and conditions for insurance policies.
- Collaborate effectively within a team to enhance operational efficiency and achieve profitable underwriting outcomes.
- Maintain comprehensive records of underwritten policies and decision-making processes.
- Balance risk diversity to ensure predictable future results.
- Comply with relevant insurance regulations.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- A minimum of 7 years of experience in commercial lines underwriting.
- Possession of a valid CIP designation.
- Experience in both British Columbia and Alberta is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of underwriting principles, commercial liability, insurance policies, and commercial property.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word, with the ability to navigate all software utilized by the firm.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present information clearly and listen effectively.
