Tunnel Estimator

Webuild, a leading international construction company, is seeking a skilled Tunnel Estimator to join our team of civil engineering pioneers. As a Tunnel Estimator, you will play a crucial role in the development of our complex infrastructure projects, utilizing your expertise in tunneling, estimation, and project management.
Key Responsibilities- Tunnel Estimation: Utilize Hard Dollar estimating software to ensure the precision of bid costs, analyzing documents, drawings, specifications, and proposals to prepare accurate pricing.
- Site Visits: Conduct thorough site visits prior to price preparation to gather necessary information, collaborating with Operations staff to obtain input and ensure comprehensive estimates.
- Quantity Take-Off: Perform quantity take-off from construction drawings where applicable, supporting the procurement process by obtaining pricing from suppliers and subcontractors.
- Comprehensive Costs: Formulate comprehensive costs for tender submissions, including labor, equipment, materials, rentals, and subcontracts, demonstrating a strong understanding of risks relevant to the scope of the work.
- Project Management: Manage the handover process upon project award, maintaining organized files and correspondence for active and completed tenders, contributing to project success and learning through effective communication and collaboration.
- Estimation Processes: Ensure compliance with estimation processes and procedures for consistency and accuracy, assisting with post-bid and post-project analysis completion and facilitating associated learning and communication.
- Risk Management: Adhere to the project's risk management policies and procedures, fostering positive relationships with Clients, Consultants, and key subcontractors, upholding confidentiality and protecting proprietary information.
- Estimation Data Systems: Maintain the estimation data systems to ensure they are up-to-date, being stationed on major projects as required.
- Education: A bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field is preferred.
- Experience: 5–10 years of progressive estimating experience in civil construction, track, buildings, or related disciplines, with knowledge and/or experience in the rail and transit industry environment being advantageous.
- Skills: Proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, and Access) is essential, with experience with estimating software, particularly Hard Dollar, being required.
- Interpersonal Skills: Ability to work effectively within a team environment, with strong interpersonal skills for building positive working relationships.
- Understanding: Understanding of site conditions impacting bid costs and constructability, excellent listening and communication skills, familiarity with various types of construction contracts, including cost-reimbursable, Target, and Guaranteed Maximum Price.
